Seven Things To Do For Five Minutes Every Day That Will Massively Improve Your LifeWhatever you think of your life – no matter how satisfying or otherwise – there is always room for improvement. Sometimes, life can be a bit of a struggle. Sometimes, even when a day goes well, it can feel like there is something lacking. Sometimes, life feels amazing and you couldn’t care less about trying to feel better.

Often, when it feels like something is missing, it can be put off in favour of more pressing issues. That feeling that you need to do something to fill that gap will only get worse.

If you feel like your day to day existence could use a bit of a boost, there are some simple things you can do no matter how busy your schedule.

MOVE AROUND

Stretch your limbs. Get your blood flowing and your heart pumping. You don’t have to run around or stress yourself too much, devoting even thirty seconds at a time to your physical wellbeing can have great long term improvements, both for your body and mind.

BE OUTSIDE

Feel the sun on your face. The sting of fresh air in your lungs. The wind in your hair. The rain on your skin. The scent of the air after a storm. Remind yourself that there is a world outside your bedroom, your house, your office. Just take a second to breathe in the world.

TALK TO SOMEONE YOU LOVE

Ask how their day has been. Tell them you love them. Make idle chit chat. It doesn’t matter. Let them know you appreciate their existence. Revel in it. Enjoy hearing their voice. Remind yourself why they mean so much to you. Take the time to appreciate having them in your life.

TALK TO SOMEONE YOU DON’T KNOW

Hear their story. Take a moment to try to experience the world through the eyes of someone who has known a totally different life from you. Learn from them. Even if you don’t learn anything significant or profound, engaging with a human being is an enormously valuable experience in itself.

THINK OF SOMETHING YOU’RE THANKFUL FOR

Think of everything you’re thankful for if you can find the time and motivation. Make a list. Just take a moment to think of something that you are truly grateful to have in your life.

READ POETRY

You don’t need to go out and buy a lot of books or seek out anything new or classic or well known. There are apps that have an almost endless supply of poetry available to download for free. Even if you don’t think poetry is your thing, there will almost certainly be something you identify with, something that makes you feel a little less alone in the world. Even if all you find is a silly limerick, at least it’ll make you giggle.

NOTHING

Just sit, just be. Let the world flow past you, let your mind relax. Take a moment to not worry, not stress, to simply feel yourself exist and appreciate being alive.
